Mobile Health Center Nurse Practitioner – PRN with MedStar Health's Care Transformation – Baltimore Region Team
Knowing you need a medical appointment is one thing, but having access for our most vulnerable patients in the community is another. The MedStar Mobile Health Center offers a solution in communities across the Baltimore area. This position would help staff two mobile health center units in the Baltimore region including near Medstar Harbor Hospital, Medstar Union Memorial, Medstar Good Samaritan, and Medstar Franklin Square Hospital.
The MedStar Mobile Health Center is seeking an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner with at least two years of NP experience in primary care, emergency room, urgent care, FQHC, or other community health settings to work PRN with our mobile health team. This candidate will have a passion for mobile healthcare, public health, and/or serving vulnerable communities across the lifespan. The mobile health center provides primary care services, urgent care, wellness exams, on-site testing, and addressing social determinants of health needs. Each mobile health unit travels to four locations regularly, and this candidate will be responsible for providing cross coverage on both units and our occasional weekend community events.
The candidate must feel comfortable addressing common acute and chronic illnesses and complex disease states as the sole medical provider, with access to a medical director on call. There will be an interdisciplinary team of a registrar, community health advocate and medical assistant/phlebotomy on the Mobile Health Center. Clinic is open four days a week at set sites throughout the Baltimore region. This candidate will report directly to the Medical Director of this Mobile Health Center.
The candidate must feel comfortable addressing common acute and chronic illnesses and complex disease states for all age groups as the sole medical provider. A Medical Director is available for consultations. There will be an interdisciplinary team of a registrar, community health advocate, and medical assistant/phlebotomy on the van. Candidate should be available at least 2 days a week Monday-Friday, and the occasional weekend community event 1-2x/month depending on the month.
Our ideal candidate would include:
2+ years of experience providing care/support to underserved populations including those who are uninsured or underinsured
Strong communication, interpersonal, and triage skills
Self-starter who is flexible, innovative, and compassionate
Interest in community outreach and quality improvement
Available for at least 2 days a week for clinic, and the occasional weekend event
Ability to travel to various sites throughout Baltimore city and Baltimore county
Masters Degree in Nursing or Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited School of Nursing, and active license in Maryland required
Experience treating all age groups
Experience with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) or willingness to obtain preferred
Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
DNP, MBA, MHA, or MPH credentials preferred
