General Summary of Position
Provides patient care for transplant patients following established standards and practices. Functions to advance the clinical mission and goals of the Georgetown Transplant Institute through collaborative relationships within the Medical Center. 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Handles intake calls from potential transplant candidates and/or referring physicians. Assess patients for placement on the transplant waiting list. Coordinates evaluation with the patient/family and appropriate members of hospital, the transplant team, the patient's primary care physician and cardiologist, and clinical consultants. Greets patients and prepares them for physician evaluations. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in the collection of samples and completion of tests. Facilitates the evaluation of both pre and post-transplant patients by interfacing with referring physicians, Transplant hepatologists, Transplant nephrologists, Transplant surgeons, scheduling coordinators, consultants, Insurance coordinators and social workers. Has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation and evaluation of this process. Coordinates the complex management and education of patients' pre and post transplant. Communicates with the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) to maintain an accurate and current patient waiting list. Participates in clinical rounds, meetings, and conferences, consultations and educational programs designed to increase knowledge and to improve patient care and staff performance: serve as a consultant to physicians and staff members regarding services in the specialty area. (e.g., development of critical pathway).



Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required

3-4 years Professional clinical experience as a registered dietitian required. 1-2 years of previous transplant-related experience preferred.

CPR Required and Registered Dietitian required with eligibility for licensure in Washington, D.C.


This position has a hiring range of $35.16 - $55.667
