A Brief Overview
Responsible for the installation, calibration, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of departmental equipment, including a variety of respiratory ventilators and related medical equipment throughout the Washington Hospital Center (WHC). Answers questions regarding the equipment, its usage, and documents activities.
What you will do
- Performs, preventive maintenance and performance testing on departmental clinical/ medical/patient care systems and devices including electronic instruments/devices. Documents activities.
- Performs routine repairs on departmental clinical/medical equipment, e.g.: broken flowmeter and replacement of high pressure hoses. Refers more complex repairs to Biomedical Engineering. May transport equipment to and from Biomedical Engineering.
- Receives and documents newly acquired equipment prior to installation.
- Confers with Facilities Management concerning any alteration(s) to the medical gas systems. Purges and checks the oxygen system for purity following any construction/ alteration.
- Demonstrates proper assembly of the high frequency and specialty ventilators to departmental and ICU medical staff.
- Periodically reviews and updates departmental equipment inventory listings, maintaining an inventory of stock replacement assemblies. Reorders as necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED plus specialized and/or advanced clerical, technical or other vocational training acquired during 1 - 2 years of additional job-related training Required
- 1 to 3 years experience which may include an internship and/or previous hospital/ medical equipment experience Required
- May require the use of specialized medical equipment (i.e., EEG, EKG, blood analyzer), or data processing equipment (i.e., tape drives, consoles) and/or training/use with adult and pediatric ventilators.
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days Required and
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

This position has a hiring range of $20.57 - $36.27
