Find your calling at Mercy! The Director – Facility Design will drive Mercy's strategic design direction for keeping Mercy on the leading edge in design and efficient operations of its facilities. The position will work closely with the Mercy planning, design and construction teams and strategic partners to assure Mercy's brand objectives are accomplished. The Director - Facility Design will also find and hire key operational experts to create the operational models for Mercy including workflow efficiencies, new technologies, and designs of the future. The Director - Facility Design will be responsible to work with clinical, non-clinical and physician leadership throughout the ministry to get buy-in on new design and operational models and their implementation. Position Details:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in architecture, Interior Design, or related field is required.
• Architectural License, or National Council Interior Design (NCIDQ) license is preferred.
Experience:
• 10 years progressive experience in planning and/or design on a full range of facility developments required.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, relationship building skills and verbal and written communication skills are required.
• 5 years progressive experience in planning and/or design in the healthcare industry with a full range of projects, from existing healthcare facilities to new large healthcare facility replacements. A strong knowledge of the healthcare industry, strong senior leadership, ability to work alone/independently and creativity is required.
Certifications:
One or more of the following certifications are preferred:
• Leadership Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
• Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC)
• American Institute of Architects (AIA)
• Association for the advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
• American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) member in good standing
Physical Requirements:
• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
• Ability to sit and stand for periods of time and walk various locations through the health ministry.
• Must have normal or corrected vision.
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
