Position: Environmental Service Tech Lead (Housekeeping)

Overview:
The Lead Environmental Services Technician will perform environmental service functions to include servicing diverse types of floors, daily cleaning activities, as well as assisting the Environmental Services Coordinator with determined supervisory functions when needed.
Job Description:
• Coordinate and oversee daily cleaning activities disinfecting various areas of the hospital such as patient rooms, corridors, offices, and public spaces.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure that cleaning standards meet or exceed established guidelines. Address any deficiencies promptly and implement corrective actions, as necessary.
• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment to maintain adequate stock levels. Change curtains as needed.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including infection control protocols. Oversee the maintenance and repair of cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and carpet extractors. Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.
• Foster positive relationships with hospital staff, patients, and visitors by responding promptly to service requests, addressing concerns, and maintaining open communication channels.
• May assist with the orientation of new staff.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to environmental services staff, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
• Conduct environmental rounds and inspections to identify cleanliness issues, safety hazards, or maintenance needs and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Train new employees on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and departmental policies. Provide ongoing training and support to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
• Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, inspections, staff training, and compliance documentation. Prepare reports as needed.
• Strip and refinish floors; extract carpets; and operate battery-powered Carpet Extractors, Autoscrubbers and Floor Burnishers.
• May need to operate a forklift truck, and drive hospital vehicles.
• Perform duties pertaining to the storage of site-generated hazardous waste in the hazardous waste staging areas.
• Conduct inspections of Satellite Accumulation Areas and Central Staging Areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Prior work experience following written and verbal instructions. Previous experience with performing manual tasks. Prior experience working with the public; customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One year in a leadership role working with groups of at least five members. Prior environmental services experience.
Certification: Ability to acquire a chauffeur's license within 90 days.
License: Valid current driver's license; obtain a chauffeur's license within 90 days of employment.
Physical Requirements:
• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. regularly.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.
