This position is engaged in the practice of emergency medicine that required substantial judgment and knowledge and proficient skills needed to provide safe and therapeutic paramedic care to critical patients. This Flight Paramedic will share the responsibility with the flight nurse to provide care during each mission, accurately assessing and dealing with life-threatening situations. The flight paramedic must abide by state law, Mercy Life Line Protocol, and hospital policies and procedures. Performs related duties as assigned. Position Details:

Licensure: Current paramedi license in state of operation: MO EMP-P or AR EMT-P. Current provide in BLS,ACLS, PALS, and ITLS or PHTLS (taken one time). NRP and Hazmat taken within 6 months of hire. Current after six months: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, ATLS or equivalent Life Line Trauma Course.Certification after 2 years.
Experience: ALS care for at least three years with demonstrated above average abilities and skills.
Certifications: FP-C or CCP-C certifications required for Paramedics who conduct critical care transports and have been employed with air medical services for more than two years. Flight Paramedics with less than two years of critical care experience will complete within two years of hire. Must have, or be able to complete during first6 monthsof service, NRP and HAZMAT.
Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Expected to be capable for performing patient care of critically ill or seriously injured patients, for all age groups. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and toprovide the care needed. Must bephysically fit and able to lift heavy loads, work in all climate conditions, and expect to be exposed to the outdoor elements on a daily basis. Must be able to practice excellent job mechanics in a confined area, be able to deal with stressful situations, make sound and accurate judgments concerning patient care, and adapt to changing environment with constant interruptions. Mist be able to pass a yearly flight fitness evaluation that demands you push, pull, and grip up to 75lbs. and pinch up to 20lbs. You will also be expected to kneel, crouch, and crawl occasionally. Must be able to use a Cardiac Monitor, Non-Invasive/Invasive BP Monitor, Mechanical Ventilator, Co2 Monitor, IABP, Infusion Pump and computer. As of 7/1/2017, the new weight requirement will be 230 lbs or less in full uniform (flight suit and boots).

Preferred Education: HS/GED
Preferred Licensure: CCEMT-P preferred.
Preferred Experience: Previous air medical experience preferred.
