Overview:

 

Responsible for overall operations and quality assurance and improvement of Laboratory, Radiology, CT, and EKG departments, managing activities and resources to provide high quality clinical services to assist medical staff in diagnosis and treatment. Performs all duties in accord to the mission, vision and values of Healdton Mercy Hospital.

 

Responsibilities1. PLAN AND SCHEDULE WORK ASSIGNMENTS AND OPTIMIZE AREAS FOR OPTIMUM PRODUCTIVITY1.1 Schedule work assignments so that all are completed within benchmarked turn around times.1.2 Maintain equipment according to manufacturers specifications and directions and complete all tests by end of shifts.1.3 Maintain established reagent and supply levels with less than one emergency order per quarter.1.4 Prioritize own work assignments so that all activities are completed within established time frames.2. MONITOR OPERATIONS FOR QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY2.1 Report test results when controls fall within established limits.2.2 Review computer reports for irregularities and follow through according to policy.2.3 Ensure that work areas are cleaned at regular intervals and neat in appearance.2.4 Maintain acceptable noise levels per regulatory agencies.2.5 Ensure that all safety rules and regulations are observed.3. DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING OF CO-WORKERS3.1 Counset co-workers in a firm but caring and respectful manner as necessary.3.2 Disipline co-workers using positive methods as outlined by policies of Healdton Mercy Hospital3.3 Provide and require staff to complete competencies and training and docuement as appropriate.3.4 Provide and require all co-workers to attend mandatory departmental staff meetings and inservice/education programs.3.5 Prepare annual evaluations and review with co-workers within 5 working days of merit date.3.6 Assures co-workers are competent in age specific needs/requirements of patients.4. PERFORM ROUTINE AND SPECIAL PROCEDURES WITH KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE4.1 Evaluate and handle specimans by prescribed procedure, observing departmental policies and standard precautions, with less than two (2) ommissions per year.4.2 Accurately analyze, evaluate, and result tests and controls with less than three (3) errors per year.4.3 Accurately document and report test results as ordered.4.4 Maintain patient confidentiality.5. MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION5.1 Maintain accurate manuals for all technical procedures.5.2 Maintain written policies for all aspects of operations in clinical laboratory, radiology, CT, EKG5.3 Maintain retrievable hard copies of patient results and controls as required by regulatory agencies.5.4 Prepare and submit departmental goals5.5 Prepare budgetary projections5.6 Monitor Quality Assurance log and follow up and document action taken.6. PARTICIPATE IN ORGANZATIONAL ACTIVIITIES6.1 Attend 90% of scheduled required meetings. Distribute information to laboratory and radiology staff6.2 Assure compliance with rules, regulations and policies and procedures of Healdton Mercy Hospital.6.3 Develop criteria to monitor quality improvement activities within laboratory, radiology, CT, and EKG7. DEMONSTRATE KNOWLEDGE OF SPECIAL NEEDS AND BEHAVIORS OF NEONATAL, PEDIATRIC, ADOLESCENT, ADULT AND GERIATRIC GROUPS7.1 Demonstrate knowledge of the changes associated with aging.7.2 Demonstrates ability to provide service based on physical, psycho social, cultural, safety and other age related factors.7.3 Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor degree in Medical Technology

Licensure/Certification: ASCP

Experience: 4 to 6 years of clinical lab expereince
