Overview

Mercy Clinic Women's Health at Piper Hill is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This position plays a vital role in supporting providers and ensuring exceptional patient care in a fast-paced women's health clinic environment. We are seeking a team member who demonstrates professionalism, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to Mercy's mission of caring for the sick and suffering with dignity, compassion, and respect.

This position is available due to an internal promotion, creating an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative and supportive clinic team.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will assist physicians and advanced practice providers with a variety of clinical and administrative duties, including:

Clinical Duties
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs
  • Assist physicians and APPs with exams and procedures
  • Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing
  • Administer injections and complete medication reconciliation
  • Perform phlebotomy
  • Provide patient education according to clinic policies
  • Assist with instrument maintenance, cleaning, and preparation
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms
  • Enter diagnostic and ancillary orders
  • Document patient information, scan records, and maintain accurate medical records
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, APPs, patients, and interdisciplinary team members
Administrative Duties
  • Schedule appointments
  • Process medical record release requests
  • Manage basic in-basket messages and prescription refill requests
  • Assist with referrals
  • Complete insurance prior authorizations and precertifications
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA guidelines
Compliance & Quality
  • Follow OSHA standards and infection prevention practices
  • Adhere to PPE, Quality, and Safety policies
  • Demonstrate knowledge of diverse patient populations and individualized care needs
  • Participate in competency reviews of other Medical Assistants when a Lead MA is unavailable
Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment
Preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • One year of patient care or medical office experience
  • Experience with phlebotomy, referrals, prior authorizations, and women's health services
Training Requirements
  • New hires must successfully complete Mercy's Medical Assistant Clinic Academy training program.
  • Current Medical Assistants advancing through the career ladder must complete required MA competencies.
