Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Cardiac Sonographer to join our pediatric clinic team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will perform high-quality cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist in diagnosing and monitoring cardiovascular conditions in a pediatric population.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform echocardiography procedures, producing high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Select appropriate imaging techniques and evaluate, reformat, and verify studies for clarity and completeness.
  • Prepare, position, and assist pediatric patients for imaging procedures while ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Clearly explain procedures to patients and caregivers, addressing questions and concerns with empathy.
  • Review and verify physician orders; document patient history, contrast usage (if applicable), and patient responses throughout the imaging process.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, utilizing proper immobilization and transfer techniques when necessary.
  • Accurately manage and maintain imaging data and documentation in PACS.
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and safety checks of ultrasound equipment; report and follow up on equipment needs.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including infection prevention and patient protection standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Sonography program with required clinical hours
    OR
    Completion of on-the-job training under a registered Cardiac Sonographer preceptor
  • Certification/Registration (required or eligible):
    • ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS), or registry eligible (must obtain within 6 months)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • State licensure (if required by state regulations)

Experience: No prior experience required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • Strong ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images and identify technical abnormalities
  • Knowledge of echocardiography protocols and ability to adjust imaging techniques as needed
  • Familiarity with ultrasound equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety procedures

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts
