Overview
Performs as a (RN) Nurse in the Mercy Virtual vAcute program in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and Mercy rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and performs all duties assigned by Medical Director, in the vAcute program, concerning patients and their care. These duties differ according to the assigned areas and range from education to care coordination. vAcute provides care on a 24-hour basis.- Utilize the Mercy Nursing Conceptual Framework and nursing process to provide patient care.
- Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients.
- Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
- Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with Mercy virtual care team and other care providers.
- Communicates all care plans with patient and family.
- Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy mission, vision and Mercy Service Standards.
- All clinical duties performed are within the RN scope of practice.
- Participates in the Mercy Virtual Quality Assurance Program.
- Participates in the shared governance team.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Education: Graduation from registered nursing program and bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or 4 years of commensurate experience in lieu of the degree, in addition to the required experience.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years diversified direct clinical experience in nursing required. Previous telemedicine, Emergency medicine, Internal medicine, Primary care medicine or a Critical Care experience ideal.
Licensure: Must have a License in state of practice or be eligible for License in state of practice and eligible for other state licensure.
Certification: BLS Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Work requires analytical skills and knowledge of complex medical patients, anatomy, EKG reading, etc.
- Must possess excellent communication skills with patient and family both over the phone and on video.
- Must possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers and other medical staff in a virtual care setting.
- Ability to monitor multiple patients and work within a treatment team that focus on care for the patients.
- Broad-based knowledge and clinical expertise in assessing, analyzing, intervening, and evaluating patient care. Ability to work in stressful environment ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, function within an ever-changing environment, coordinate services for multiple patients with a variety of ages and diagnoses.
- Be a team leader and direct the health care needed to meet the patient needs.
- Must possess the ability to concentrate for long periods of time, work well under stress and the ability to think and react quickly in emergencies.
