Overview:
Coworker will be primarily responsible for maintaining Trauma Registry in compliance with the National Data Dictionary definitions. This involves data collection, accurate recording and analyzing of Trauma/Burn patients that meet criteria for inclusion utilizing computerized registry software. Data will come from a variety of sources to complete required data elements. Performs duties in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Job Duties:
Performs concurrent chart abstraction, coding and scoring for the trauma registry.
Identifies appropriate patients for inclusion based on criteria set using ED charts, PI data elements, the hospital network system, and the electronic health record.
Develops reports/queries from the trauma registry as requested.
- Runs standard reports for monthly PI activities.
- Runs monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Assists with maintaining standards for trauma center verification as assigned by the Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Coordinator and Lead Trauma Analyst.
Maintains daily admission log.
Coordinates and abstracts data for Performance Improvement.
Qualifications:
- Experience: CSTR, CAISS, ICD-10 within past 5 years, RHIA strongly preferred. Someone who has coding history and working in medical field with good understanding of anatomy, terminology, and disease process is preferred.
- Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Education: Associate degree in health information or related field.
