Overview:

 

To be eligible as a candidate for the Student – Ultrasound Imaging role, ultrasound students must be in their last semester of their respective program / school. Once graduated from their respective program, it is the expectation that the candidate be registered in their specialty within six months.

 

In the event the Student – Ultrasound Imaging does not meet the conditions for graduation from their respective program; or does not pass their respective registry within six months, their employment as a Student- Ultrasound Imaging may be terminated by Mercy.

 

It is expected that once the Student – Ultrasound Imaging has graduated their respective school / program and passed the registry in their respective specialty; they will transition to employment as a Sonographer II. In the event that the Student – Ultrasound Imaging declines to transition to the Sonographer II, or there are no Sonographer II vacancies to transition to, employment as a Student – Ultrasound Imaging may be terminated.

 

Perform a variety of ultrasound imaging procedures and are responsible for patient safety protocols under the direct supervision of a licensed technologist. Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs under the direct supervision of a licensed technologist.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an accredited school of ultrasound imaging.
  • Certifications: Current BLS certification
  • Other: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge.
  • Preferred Other: Additional languages helpful.
