Licensed MST Therapist

Position qualifications: Students close to graduating from a clinical master's program or those who are post-grad and provisionally licensed in the state of Colorado are welcome to apply. PREFERRED -- Master's degree in human services or behavioral health field which included supervised clinical practicum/internship hours for both Clinician II or III positions. Two (2) years post-graduate experience in human services related field for a Clinician II, or licensed in the State of Colorado for Clinician III. Certification/License in addiction treatment (CAC), (CAS), or (LAC). Working knowledge of, or certified in, Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) treatment model highly desired.
Job purpose:
Under supervision, therapist provides frequent and in-depth family-focused services for referral youth using Multisystemic Therapy (MST). Referral youth are between the ages of 12-17 years old with higher risk systemic behaviors.
These services are delivered in a community-based approach to include the following support focuses:
- Working with a diverse client population in the home, at the school, and within other community-based settings.
- Providing services up to five families at any given time with expected treatment completion per family within 3-5 months.
- Assessing a youth's behavioral issues and the family system to determine appropriate interventions to shift behaviors.
- Applying various evidenced-based modalities across the family system.
- Collaborating with community stakeholders on ways to best support the youth and family.
- Developing treatment plans, monitoring treatment progress and maintaining clinical charts.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability (include materials and equipment directly used):
- Ability to learn and become certified in the MST treatment model.
- Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet access.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner within a clinical treatment team setting.
- Ability to follow and implement direction as provided by the Clinical Team and/or any Supervisor who may be designated by the Clinical Supervisor or Program Coordinator.
- A working knowledge of individual, group, family, and crisis treatment approaches and their application to patients with emotional and behavioral problems.
- Ability to produce timely and complete written documentation of clinical work in a manner consistent with providing information to others as needed or required by Colorado West policies or best practice dictates.
- Knowledge of mental illness, and psychopathology and associated treatment modalities
- Working knowledge of Colorado Revised Statutes 27-10 (Mental Health Code)
- Knowledge of community health and mental health resources and their eligibility criteria
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Clinical work will take place primarily in client homes, schools, and elsewhere in the community, while administrative work will take place in an office setting, and possibly remotely as needed/approved by supervisor. Driving is required. The MST model of treatment requires clinician availability for 24-hour on-call response, which may take place via telehealth or in-person at times. On-call shifts will be split with other team members. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods of time at a computer. May be exposed to stressful situations that involve enraged, distraught and/or intoxicated individuals with possible mental disorders. Possible potential for exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
