Job Description:

Montage Orthopedics and Sports Medicine (MOSM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Montage Health, which also owns Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP), Ohana (Adolescent Behavioral Health), Aspire Health Plan, MOGO Urgent Care, Montage Health Foundation and Montage Medical Group.

Montage Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is an outpatient multi-specialty organization with locations in Monterey and Carmel, providing clinical care, integrated imaging/MRI, urgent care and PT/OT services.  MOSM currently staffs 13 physicians across orthopedic / musculoskeletal subspecialties including: Adult Reconstruction (Hip, Knee, Shoulder), Hand and Wrist, Foot and Ankle, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, Spine Surgery, and Podiatry..  MOSM surgeons take emergency department call and operate at ASCs and Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, also part of Montage Health.

CHOMP is a 250-bed tertiary sole provider hospital for Coastal Monterey County.  The hospital has a 20-bed intensive care unit providing general medical/surgical and cardiac care.   CHOMP has been named among America's 250 Best Hospitals™ in 2026 by Healthgrades, placing it in the top five percent of hospitals nationwide for consistently delivering clinical quality. Position Summary

Under the clinical leadership of the Medical Director and supervising physician(s), the Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for delivering high-quality, immediate care to patients with musculoskeletal needs. The role includes performing patient examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging and lab tests, prep-/intra-/and post-op care, and providing treatments such as medications, fracture care, casting, splinting, laceration repair, minor procedures, and injection therapy—all within the appropriate scope of practice. The PA will continuously update treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes and communicate with on-call surgeons as needed. Accurate documentation and timely completion of billing procedures are essential, along with the ability to build collaborative relationships with referring physicians and external facilities. This position requires a strong commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, continuing education, and professional conduct in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Specific subspecialty assignment for this role may be required in:

•           Adult Reconstruction (Hip, Knee, Shoulder)

•           Sports / Trauma

•           Neurosurgery / Spine

•           Urgent Care

This position may include up to 2 weeks per month of on-call coverage in Urgent Care and/or Emergency Departments. The position is also expected to perform in-clinic shifts of up to 10 hours in duration.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic or equivalent clinic and must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, including Epic. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to manage shifting priorities, meet deadlines, and respond effectively to emergency situations. Candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read and write basic correspondence and clearly convey information in one-on-one and small group settings. The position also requires sound reasoning abilities and the capacity to follow detailed instructions while adapting to variable clinical scenarios using practical problem-solving skills.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant school.

  

Licenses/Certifications

CA Physician Assistant licensure or has applied for CA state licensure. Current CPR/First Aid Certification. Current DEA Licensure.
