At NorthBay Health, the Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager (ACNM) works in collaboration with department leadership to ensure the work of the unit is accomplished safely and effectively. While the role shares 24-hour responsibility it is focused on evening and night shifts. The ACNM is responsible for supervising, directing, coaching and mentoring staff under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager.  The ACNM serves as leadership support for staff, physicians and the interdisciplinary team.  This role requires demonstration of leadership, clinical, and interpersonal skills. The ACNM collaborates with the manager on clinical and non-clinical operations related to the department.  Serves as the leader support when the manager is unavailable.    This role has a focus on the culture of excellent patient and family experience and practice environment.

Duties and responsibilities include those required of the clinical nurse, preceptor, and supervisor roles. If department includes multiple specialty areas, the ACNM must have competency in one area. The ACNM will plan, coordinate clinical requirements for staff and ensure orientation, educational, and competency requirements for staff are current. Will provide ongoing clinical evaluation of nurses and counsel the team on performance issues, corrective actions, and monitoring attendance.

This role has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the organization, Patient Care Services Division.  Utilizes Jean Watson's Theory of Caring, Relationship Based Care, and NorthBay's professional nursing practice model to support the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Education:  Bachelor's Degree required.  Master's degree preferred.  One of the degrees must be in nursing.   
  • Licensure:  Current RN license by the State of California.  Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS and ACLS.  Related National Certification preferred.
  • Experience:  Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in area of specialty required. One-year supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Skills: Demonstrated clinical experience in the specific department area. Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Possesses teaching ability, leadership ability, and high professional standards. Well organized, be able to set priorities work independently and be an effective team member.
  •  Physical Effort:  Performs all physical duties of the job.  Requires lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills. 
  • Other:  Completion of annual organizational requirements for employment (TB Testing, Safety Training, Patient Safety Training, mandatory in-services, etc.).
  • Compensation:  $90.16 - $109.59 (Max pay is commensurate of 20+ years experience as a Clinical Supervisor/Management role)
