Description
At NorthBay Health the Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is a staff level position reporting directly to the Supervisor, Laboratory Director and the Medical Director assigned to perform, interpret, and report accurate and timely laboratory testing in the sections of the laboratory assigned according to standard operating procedures and policies and in accordance with state and federal laboratory law. This position also may supervise technicians and other non-independent practitioners. Must be able to use critical thinking skills, make independent judgment based on knowledge of laboratory medicine and disease processes.

Qualifications
Education:
- Graduation from an approved school of medical technology is required and B.S. is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- State of California Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
- ASCP or equivalent desired.
- Meets state and federal requirements for supervising the performance of high complexity laboratory testing as outlined in CLIA 88 and the State Title for Laboratories.
Experience:
- Three years as a registered technologist in an acute care hospital desired.
Job Duties
- Performs, interprets, reviews, and documents quality control and patient results according to policies and procedures.
- Has the ability to analyze and problem solve complex issues that impact test performance.
- Proactively communicates consistently, clearly and honestly using the SBARQ format.
- Assists in the validation of new tests, instruments and writing or reviewing the procedures required.
- Performs preventative maintenance as scheduled and maintains the proper records. Troubleshoots malfunctions and performs minor repairs of equipment optical, electronic and mechanical systems as outlined in the manufacturer's instructions and department policies.
- Makes reagents, calibrates instrumentation and assesses their accuracy. Maintains sufficient inventory levels of supplies and reagents within the assigned section.
- Assists in training and assessing competence of new staff and new procedures with existing staff.
Skills:
- Phlebotomy, basic medical terminology, typing, math and computer skills.
- Able to work independently.
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.

Compensation: $61.58-74.89 per hour (Based on years of experience )
Evening Differential: $5.58 per hour
Night Differential: $11.20 per hour
