At NorthBay Health, the Director of Clinical Informatics provides leadership to advance NorthBay Health's utilization of clinical information systems through training and workflow design.  Working closely with the CIO, CMIO, AVP of Applications, and Vice President, Patient Care Services; the Director of Clinical Informatics helps determine IT priorities based on alignment with the NorthBay annual operating and strategic plans, support for quality and patient safety initiatives, and other identified clinical needs. The position will ensure consistency with NorthBay's clinical content and design across all settings (Inpatient and Ambulatory) and for the delivery of reliable, efficient IT systems. The positions is responsible for all EHR training, coordinating training requirements with vendors for both onboarding and system updates and modifications. The Director of Clinical Informatics functions as a liaison between patient care services and IT and represents informatics within Patient Care Services. The Director of Clinical Informatics is responsible for assigning and managing the work of a team of informaticists, IT educators, and Adoption Strategist for content development, enhancements, projects, workflow modification, and training. 

Through system optimization, process redesign, and advanced education, the Director of Clinical Informatics will lead the effort to ensure the expected benefits are realized from NorthBay's investment in clinical IT systems. The position is responsible for developing processes for the review, prioritization, and timely implementation of enhancements. The position will help update policy and procedures as appropriate related to system and workflow changes. The position will implement an education strategy that incorporates both system and workflow training to achieve and sustain the advanced use of clinical information systems as well as develop methods to assess the efficacy of that training. 



Qualifications

Education:

  1. California Nursing License required. 
  2. Master's Degree in Nursing or other healthcare-related field, required .
  3. Specialty in Healthcare Informatics/Information Systems or closely related field preferred.

Experience:

  1. Eight (8) years experience with implementation, redesign or process work that includes clinical system redesign.
  2. Ten (10) years in a hospital nursing leadership role preferred.
  3. Experience with Cerner strongly preferred.

Hours:

  1. Normally works an eight-hour day.  Hours will vary according to work demands. 

Compensation:  $215k  to $225k based on years of experience
