At NorthBay Health the Manager of Professional Coding is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of professional coding staff, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies. This role focuses on optimizing coding accuracy, productivity, and reimbursement while ensuring adherence to documentation and billing regulations. This Manager collaborates closely with physicians, billing teams, compliance officer, and revenue cycle leadership to uphold coding integrity and support revenue optimization. Additionally, they provide expertise in front-end best practice coding operations and drive the ongoing development of coding staff to meet the needs of current and emerging specialty areas. This role also assists providers in interpreting and applying coding requirements, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or 15 years supervisory/manager experience with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity in the areas of Ambulatory/Professional Fee coding.
Licensure/Certification:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT ), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or AAPC's Certified Professional Coder (CPC*) credential.
Experience:
- 3-5 years progressively responsible supervisory/management in revenue cycle operations and/or practice management.
- Active experience in implementing and supporting healthcare information systems.
Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience with Personal Computers and computer systems.
- Must have excellent organizational skills, be able to set priorities, work independently and be an effective leader.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others in complying with policies and procedures. Demonstrated auditing skills for coding quality and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Knowledge of electronic and paper medical records; electronic health information trends & operations.

Compensation:
- $140k to $150k based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
