Description

At NorthBay Health, the Paralegal works under the supervision of the General Counsel and provides paraprofessional support services including document management and preparation, contract management and review; research; information gathering and fact checking; and litigation management assistance.  The Paralegal must be willing and able to perform a variety of paralegal tasks.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Coordinates with attorneys, NorthBay staff, and other professionals to manage assigned projects.
  • Assists with managing and reviewing legal documents such as contracts, forms, regulatory documents, court documents and correspondence.
  • Researches statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written summaries to attorneys.
  • Prepares, organizes, and revises various project documents such as Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, SmartSheets, education materials and other items.
  • Assists attorneys with implementation or revision of applicable policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 



Qualifications

Education: Licensure/Certification: 

In accordance with California law, must possess at least one of the following:

  • A bachelor degree or an advanced degree in any subject, a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the courts of this state for at least the preceding three years.
  • A certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association (preferred)
  • A certificate of completion of a paralegal program that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education
  • A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, a minimum of three years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the courts of this state for at least the preceding three years, and a written declaration from this attorney stating that the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks. 

Experience:  Two years of previous experience as a paralegal. At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.

Hours of work: Monday – Friday, based on business need.

Compensation: $35 to $42.87 per hour based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
