About this PositionTo develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn the subject matter presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community. To serve as an instructor for the Municipal Fire Protection degree program. Continuous assignment based on program need and funding availability.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain student and course records with updates on the learning management system.
- Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives and grading procedures for all courses.
- Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.
- Completes all mandatory training.
- Fulfill all requirements as noted in the Adjunct Handbook.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications- Associate's
Associate degree in related field. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

Minimum three years with a fire department.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
- Firefighter I, Hazardous Material Operations.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Knowledge in fire department operations, management, and leadership functions.
- Ability to update curriculum to meet changing trends in the fire service.
- Ability to present material in the traditional or online classroom environment.
- Ability to conduct formative and summative assessment of student learning.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, displaying and requiring professionalism in all classroom activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with fire department representatives on meeting program goals and learning outcomes.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately.
- Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
- High degree of initiative to work independently and also collaborate in a team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.

- Fire Instructor I & II, Executive Fire Officer, Fire Officer designation.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
- Previous teaching or training officer experience.
