Position: Full-Time Security Guard - Ottawa Hydro
Site: Hydro Ottawa - 2711 Hunt Club
Hours: 1400-2200 - Monday-Friday
Overtime Method: Employee Standards Act (ESA)
Payrate: $19.80/hour

Overview:
Hydro Ottawa is a diversified, sustainable energy company that is wholly owned by the City of Ottawa. It operates through the Hydro Ottawa Group (Hydro Ottawa Holding Inc.), which oversees several subsidiaries responsible for electricity distribution, renewable energy generation, energy services, and fibre connectivity.
Job Responsibilities
- Control and monitor site access points
- Verify identification and authorize entry/exit of employees, contractors, and visitors
- Conduct routine patrols (interior and exterior)
- Monitor and operate CCTV systems and security equipment
- Identify and report safety hazards, security breaches, or suspicious activities
- Maintain accurate logs, incident reports, and daily activity reports
- Respond to alarms and assist with emergency response procedures
- Coordinate with site personnel, emergency services, and supervisory staff when required
- Enforce site policies and security protocols
Job Requirements:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification (preferred)
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations
- Basic computer proficiency (for reporting and CCTV systems)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Previous experience in industrial or infrastructure security is considered an asset
