Site Description: Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia protects Nova Scotia's workforce by providing workplace injury insurance, preventing injuries, supporting recovery, promoting safe return to work, and offering compassionate care to workers and families affected by workplace incidents and tragedies.
Position Details:
Position: Part-time Security Officer
Site: WCB Nova Scotia- 137 Venture Run #200, Dartmouth, NS B3B 0L9
Payrate: $20.50
Schedule: 0730-1700Hrs; Rotating Schedule of:
-Week 1: Mon, Wed & Fri
-Week 2: Tues & Thurs
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol Assigned Grounds: Patrol client properties by foot to ensure the safety and security of the site, and politely direct disruptive individuals to leave the premises
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the client site, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as fire alarms or security threats. Assist site staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaboration with site Stakeholders: Provide specialized security services and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders
- Enforce Policies: Follow and enforce rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Address any violations in a manner that upholds client properties safety standards
Prerequisites:
- Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
