Position: | Casual Security Guard
Site: | Smiths Falls Hospital - 60 Cornelia St W / Perth Hospital - 33 Drummond St W / Brockville General Hospital - 75 Charles
Hours: | Various - 0700-1900/1900-0700
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
Payrate: | $18.35-$21.69/hour
Internal Posting: November 20, 2025

Note: Applicants must have flexible availability to work 2 to 3 12-hour shifts per week and be comfortable cross training at multiple facilities.

JOB DUTIES
- Maintain surveillance of facility and persons
- Watch for and report irregularities by completing incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required
- Utilize site radios and computer applications for communicating / reporting site activities and incidents
- Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Remain calm and effectively perform in emergency situations
- Write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records using effective communication skills
- Able to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
- Basic knowledge of security procedures, handling possible violent behaviours, and non- defensive communication.
- Able to follow, and enforce safety codes, campus regulations, and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation
- Able to handle private and confidential information with a high amount of discretion
- Present a professional image to the public
- Adhere to our Code of Ethics in performing job requirements
- Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
- Moderate physical activity including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- Proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset
- 6+ months in customer service
- Previous security experience is preferred
- Must be able to commit to the position for 6 months
- Must have Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) and Use of Force Certification (UOF)
- Paladin Security will pay for MOAB and UOF certification on a commitment contract (minimum six (6) months.
- Upon Hiring: Must be able to attend four (4) days of MOAB and UOF Certification class during the week.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
