Summary of Job Description:
The Real Estate Attorney is responsible for handling and advising on complex real estate transactions. This position conducts advanced risk assessments associated with real estate transactions. The Senior Real Estate Attorney may manage and coach paralegals, less experienced attorneys, and support associates. This position performs special real estate projects for senior leadership. The Senior Real Estate Attorney may conduct work in a secondary area of expertise (asset management, litigation, due diligence) and be responsible for overseeing a specialized area of law.
You'll get a chance to:
- Perform a variety of complex real estate-related legal functions for Real Estate Legal, applying established legal standards, principles, and practices with proactive legal support and counsel to internal clients to protect the company.
- Work and communicate effectively and efficiently with other associates in the Legal and Restaurant Development departments and with outside counsel.
- Review, draft, negotiate, and finalize complex real estate transactions involving ground leases, purchase agreements, and other legal documentation independently.
- Meet and/or exceed company's legal contract standards.
- Provide creative and viable solutions for complex real estate transactions in support of the real estate development pipeline and may assume project assigning role to assist in the best flow of the pipeline work.
- Conduct advanced risk assessments associated with real estate transactions.
- May conduct work in a secondary area of expertise (legal asset management, litigation, due diligence) and/or be responsible for overseeing a specialized area of law/projects.
- May manage and coach paralegals, less experienced attorneys, and support associates, elevating their performance to meet the company's growth strategies.
- Assist the Director and Vice President, Real Estate Legal on selecting, hiring, and retaining legal associates.
- Perform special projects for senior leadership as required.
- Provide highly rated legal support to Real Estate Managers and Project Managers in the field.
- Build and maintain valuable partnerships with critical stakeholders, both in the department and in other departments, reflected in feedback, survey scores and acknowledgements.

Your background and experience:
- JD degree and licensed to practice law
- Minimum seven years of legal experience, with increasing management responsibility
- Secondary area of expertise preferred
- Successful completion of initial and periodically required trainings.
- Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.
Pay Range: L3: $151,000 - $212,500 / Annual
* Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.

ADA Statement:
While performing duties, counter areas are often hot with steam from steam table and food vapors. Workspace is restricted and employees are generally expected to remain standing for long periods of time. Employees must prepare hot and cold foods, use Chinese cook knife and other kitchen equipment and work quickly without losing accuracy. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand up to four hours and reach across counter tops measured at 36 inches to serve customers. Kitchens are hot and noise levels are usually high; storage space is limited and shelving is high. Employees must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment, have effective verbal communication skills, ability to adapt to a dynamic environment with changing priorities, and the ability to manage conflicts/difficult situations.
