Description

Designs, implements, and maintains core campus and datacenter network infrastructure, including hardware, software, and licensing. Ensures optimal network performance, security, and reliability while assisting in the design and implementation of future projects and upgrades. Provides mentorship to team members, supports business initiatives with networking expertise, and ensures accurate documentation of network configuration and topology. Continuously explores opportunities to improve efficiency, adopt automation, and implement industry best practices.

Responsibilities


Network Maintenance & Operations
•    Establish and maintain networking environment by configuring systems, directing installations, and adhering to standards. 
•    Design and implement complex network solutions for new sites, relocations, upgrades, expansions, and disaster recovery setups. 
•    Troubleshoot network performance issues related to availability, utilization, throughput, and latency. 
•    Apply networking best practices and stay current with industry standards and vendor roadmaps. 
•    Utilize automation tools to streamline network operations and determine safe automation opportunities. 
•    Define and enforce network policies and procedures. 
•    Manage and configure core network disaster recovery, including procedural documentation and testing. 
•    Administer DHCP and DNS configuration, setup, and maintenance. 
•    Configure and support load balancing solutions, including F5 LTM and global load balancing. 
•    Secure network by implementing access controls, monitoring, and evaluation methods. 
•    Perform monitoring, analysis, and tuning of network performance. 
•    Collaborate with vendors to test, deploy, and evaluate new technologies and enhancements. 
•    Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, and exercises. 
•    Provide technical training and documentation for users and peers.

Fiscal & Strategic Responsibility
•    Contribute to budget planning and monitor expenses related to network operations. 
•    Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of services. 
•    Act as a subject matter expert to management, recommending new technical solutions to support business needs.

Documentation & Training
•    Maintain detailed documentation of duties, network configurations, and issue resolutions. 
•    Lead or assist in documenting network architecture, applications, and resources. 
•    Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and policies. 
•    Mentor and guide junior staff, supporting professional and technical development.

Professional Development
•    Stay current with emerging network technologies, automation practices, and industry best practices. 
•    Participate in training, professional organizations, and continued study. 
•    Apply knowledge of software-defined networking, network automation, and security integration.

General & Miscellaneous
•    Maintain confidentiality and protect organizational data and systems. 
•    Attend meetings and participate on committees as required. 
•    Ensure reliable attendance and flexibility for after-hours support as needed. 
•    Provide direction and recommendations to business units regarding network impact of initiatives. 
•    Perform other duties and special assignments as required.



Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred)
  • Cisco CCNA: Routing & Switching strongly preferred
  • Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in network administration and support

Knowledge of: 
•    LAN/WAN technologies including TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and NAT. 
•    Network performance tuning tools and protocols (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, IP SLA). 
•    Cisco IOS and NXOS platforms. Cisco Datacenter technologies (Nexus 7K/9K/5K, UCS, vPC, FEX). 
•    Cisco Routed Campus technologies (Catalyst 9500/9300 series). 
•    Layer 3 Access configuration and maintenance. 
•    F5 LTM configuration and administration, including Virtual Servers, Nodes, Pools, iRules, HA, App Delivery, and Logging. 
•    Global load balancing solutions. 
•    Network automation and scripting (Python/Ansible preferred). 
•    Network backup and archive procedures. 
•    Software Defined Networking (SDN), VMware NSX, and Cisco ACI. 
•    Network Access Control (NAC) and 802.1x. 
•    Cisco Stealthwatch and other monitoring/analysis tools. 
•    DHCP and DNS configuration, management, and troubleshooting. 
•    Disaster recovery planning and implementation. 
•    Emerging networking technologies and trends.
