Schedule Details: Hours are generally Monday through Friday with on call 24/7 for consultation and some weekends as needed for safety concerns as needed. 

 

What You Will Do:

Provides all necessary coordination and education with regards to hazardous materials, proper handling and waste compliance as needed for the ProHealth Care System (PHC). This includes management of all related documentation and manifests for all waste streams. Develops and implements procedures for disposing of hazardous or contaminated materials in accordance with government regulation. Oversees design and implementation of waste disposal systems.  This position will work closely with internal committees and outside agencies on issues that would affect the organization.  This role maintains all policies and procedures for areas of responsibilities, including modification of existing policies or creation of new ones as needs are identified. Additionally this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, local laws a and regulations as well as Joint Commission, OSHA, EPA, DNR and CMS.

This position reports to the Manager of Safety and Emergency Preparedness and is available 24/7 via pager or phone to respond to emergencies in collaboration with or back up to the manager when needed.  This position regularly requires travel to multiple sites throughout all PHC entities.


What you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Related experience preferred.
  • ​Must be willing to obtain and maintain certification in the following areas:
    •     Hazardous Materials Specialist - within 1 year of hire
    •     OSHA HAZWHOPER Technician Level - within 6 months to 1 year of hire
    •     Incident Command ICS100; ICS200; ICS300; ICS400; IS700 and IS800 - within 1 year of     hire
    •     DOT Hazardous Materials and Waste Management - within 6 months of hire
