Position SummaryProvincial Senior Living is seeking a Chief Operating Officer – West to lead a strategically important region within our portfolio.
The COO – West provides executive leadership for Operations and Sales across an assigned PSL Business Unit, with full accountability for operational performance, financial results, occupancy, resident satisfaction, and team member engagement. This role partners closely with Regional Directors, community leadership, Sales, and Business Intelligence to drive sustainable growth and results.
Location: Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to CA, WA, AZ, or UT.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operational & Financial LeadershipLead and develop Regional Directors and community leadership teams across the assigned business unit.
Refine, implement, and execute business plans to enhance operational and financial performance.
Direct the annual budgeting process for all communities within the business unit.
Oversee day-to-day business unit operations in alignment with PSL goals, objectives, and policies.
Review monthly financial statements and partner with Regional leaders to implement corrective action plans.
Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed NOI targets.
Implement revenue enhancement initiatives and cost control strategies.
Direct sales planning, reporting, goal setting, and sales process optimization.
Ensure budgeted revenue targets are achieved or exceeded by maximizing occupancy.
Develop and execute occupancy growth plans across the region.
Maintain strong knowledge of competitive markets and positioning.
Develop and manage performance metrics and analytics in partnership with the Business Intelligence team.
Utilize data to drive decision-making, forecasting, and performance improvement.
Communicate and model a clear, resident-focused vision.
Review annual resident and team member satisfaction survey results.
Develop and deploy initiatives to increase resident satisfaction and team engagement.
Ensure consistent delivery of quality care, services, and hospitality standards.
Oversee quality management, compliance, and educational initiatives across communities.
Serve as a visible, hands-on leader with frequent presence in the communities.
Act as a key PSL leader in support of organizational mission, vision, and values.
Oversee recruitment, hiring, employee relations, and separations in accordance with company policy.
Delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability appropriately.
Promote professional development, skills growth, and sharing of best practices.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Directly and indirectly supervise Regional Directors and senior leaders within the business unit.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management support.
Ensure consistent leadership standards and expectations across the region.
Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of senior living leadership experience with demonstrated responsibility for operations, budgeting, financial performance, and occupancy.
Communication
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business reports, financial statements, and regulatory materials.
Ability to present effectively to senior leaders, teams, and external stakeholders.
Financial & Analytical Skills
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, NOI management, and variance analysis.
Ability to calculate rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs and dashboards.
Leadership & Judgment
Demonstrated executive leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and judgment skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, interruption-driven environment.
Self-starter with strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
Technical Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet-based systems.
Experience leveraging dashboards, KPIs, and business intelligence tools preferred.
