Director of Celebrations

Creating Connection, Purpose, and Joy in Independent Senior Living

Our community is seeking a passionate, creative, and organized Director of Celebrations to lead and elevate resident engagement and lifestyle programming. This role is responsible for designing and overseeing experiences that promote health, wellbeing, connection, and personal growth across all levels of care.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Design, plan, and facilitate resident-centered lifestyle and engagement programs that support physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual wellness

  • Create engaging holiday events, themed programs, and signature celebrations that bring energy and connection to the community

  • Develop and manage a dynamic monthly events calendar, ensuring timely approval, posting, and distribution

  • Produce and distribute the community newsletter and resident communications

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the Celebrations Department, including Recreation and Event Coordinators across multiple levels of care

  • Build strong partnerships with volunteers, community organizations, service groups, and vendors

  • Encourage resident participation through personalized engagement strategies based on interests and abilities

  • Manage program budgets, purchasing, and supplies while staying aligned with financial guidelines

  • Maintain program spaces, activity supplies, and community library resources

  • Gather and analyze resident feedback and engagement data to continuously improve programming

  • Create eye-catching bulletin boards, digital displays, kiosks, and lobby communications

  • Support community visibility through public relations and outreach efforts

  • Ensure programming meets Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements

  • Participate in leadership meetings, in-services, and cross-functional collaboration

  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support community success

Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide direct leadership to the Celebrations Department team

  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train team members

  • Coach and develop staff through regular feedback, performance evaluations, and recognition

  • Schedule, assign, and prioritize work to ensure consistent, high-quality resident experiences

What You Bring to the Role
  • Associate degree or higher in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Education, Social Work, Adult Education, or a related field (Bachelor's preferred)

  • 3–5 years of experience in activities, lifestyle programming, or resident engagement (senior living experience preferred)

  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience

  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to balance creativity with structure, compliance, and budget management

  • Knowledge of senior living regulations and quality standards is a plus

  • A genuine passion for creating meaningful, engaging experiences for older adults
