WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Quality Assurance (“QA”) Specialist position will lead the assessment, development, deployment, and maintenance of all food safety and quality systems within the facility to comply with company goals, industry standards, regulatory and customer requirements. Job duties include:

  • Develop and maintain systems to assure compliance with SQF, third party audits, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate food safety and quality programs and maintain related records.
  • Develop and execute SQF plans to maintain SQF Quality Certification.
  • Coordinate internal auditing process and ensure all items of non-compliance discovered are communicated to management and corrected within a timely manner.
  • Investigate customer complaints, ensure complaints are closed out in a timely manner, and follow up on corrective actions from complaints.
  • Prepare company for third party audits.
  • Meet with the auditors and facilitate audits.
  • Complete correction actions to the satisfaction of the auditor and company.
  • Maintain all registers as required by SQF.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training for the facility employees on the requirements of all established programs (GMPs, HACCP, Pre-Requisite Programs, Food Defense, etc.).
  • Reassess company plans and programs whenever there is a change to a program, process, procedure, ingredient, equipment, etc.
  • Support the HACCP team in the development and reassessment of the HACCP plan and prerequisite programs.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to standardize operations, identify root causes, improve processes, solve problems, and manage risks associated with food safety and poor quality of product.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintain supplier approval program via supplier questionnaire, audit, and risk assessment.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Perform Supplier Qualification audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.


YOUR MUST HAVES:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 2 years' experience in related field.
  • GFSI certification and/or SQF Certified Practitioner.
  • HACCP certified or possess an elevated level of HACCP knowledge.
  • Self-motivated and ability to execute with minimal direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to compute mathematical conversions.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Places high value on safety and quality.

WHAT WE PREFER:

·Bachelor's degree in a Science major (Chemistry, Biology, Environment Science, etc.) or related experience.
