POSITION SUMMARY[1]
A VASP Janitor scrapes/sweeps/mops clean food, beverage, and/or drug processing plant floors, which are operated by the employer's customers, to meet Quality Control and Bacterial Standards imposed by the customer and applicable governmental agencies. Due to the nature of this work, you must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES
To be qualified to perform a VASP team member job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Attends safety meetings at the beginning of the shift
- Puts on safety gear prior to beginning duties. Contacts Supervisor to inspect safety gear.
- Obtains assignments from Supervisor of what area to clean.
- Retrieves cleaning supplies and cart from storage room.
- Squeegees up meat scraps and scoops them into barrels.
- Weighs barrels and dumps them into the inedible vat or auger.
- Mixes cleaning solution into bucket/hosing equipment.
- Mops office and Welfare Areas floors.
- Connects hoses to water source and turns on water.
- Sprays equipment, floors, and pen areas of debris.
- Scrubs equipment to remove debris with a green pad and cleaning solution.
- Sprays equipment for a final rinse.
- Ensures area, including the ceiling, is dry prior to production. Inspects area to ensure it is clean.
- Wear employer-specified PPE (gloves, face shield, eye goggles, aprons, boots, safety glasses, etc.).
JOB PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Team members are considered to be qualified (fully trained) when they achieve satisfactorily the following categories:
- Safety- Understanding and compliance all of the safety policies covered during training.
- Chemicals- Understanding of chemical types, labeling, PPE and warnings regarding to mixing chemicals.
- Pace-Work at a acceptable speed to deliver the plant on time.
- Attendance- Dependability in both: arriving and completing the work shift and compliance with attendance policy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Accountable for his/her own actions, ability to take direction and instruction from managers, prompt and timely, safety awareness, attention to detail, ability to focus on tasks at hand, adaptability, communication with peers, strong work ethic, ability to wear personal protective equipment, ability to work in environments with extreme temperature fluctuations. Due to the nature of this work, you must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position would involve you to be in a wet, hot, and or cold environment. Shift may vary depending on location.
