Description

  • Monitor and lead the compliance process to ensure all trailers within the shared trailer fleet are
    proactively maintained and compliant, as per the appropriate scheduled PMs, DOT regulations, and organizational goals
  • Proactively engage in regular review of equipment balance by region to align ongoing operational demand with appropriate equipment balance equilibrium by market
  • Provide appropriate, timely, and sound economic decisions and support pertaining to equipment maintenance needs
  • Ensure that all equipment breakdowns that occur during normal operating hours are immediately addressed, and that the appropriate Operation, Fleet Services, and Tech Services personnel are engaged
  • Oversee “after-hours” breakdown service efficiency with approved organizational provider, FleetNet
  • Reviews all new incoming equipment requests from terminals, regional equipment planners and internal stakeholders, determines required equipment, locates available matches through available inventory or utilization review of the shared trailer network, and coordinates transportation to the requesting market;
  • Manages the regular identification of underutilized and dropped loaded trailers through various internal reporting processes, communicates with responsible terminals and equipment planners to understand root cause, and executes required corrective actions in order to improve utilization of the asset
  • Manages and provides support on strategic initiative projects geared towards the continuous
    improvement of processes necessary for driving efficiency, increasing utilization, and decreasing
    downtime of the fleet
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve department and company goals
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • 4 year degree in Transportation or Business preferred
  • At least 5 years of Transportation Operations or Fleet Management

 

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be prolific in Excel and Google Sheet
  • Organized, detail oriented and ability to take initiative
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently, as required
  • Experience with Google Apps preferred
  • Familiarity with transportation industry and chemical tank equipment a plus
  • Experience with TMW, Samsara, Isaac Transportation Software

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office and computer equipment.

The Fleet Manager – Shared Trailer Pool will oversee effective preventative maintenance, compliance, and
utilization of the company shared trailer pool across the North American network. The position will report directly to the Manager of Regional Equipment Planning and T-100 Fleet Management, and operate closely with the Tech Services, Fleet Services, and Operations groups. This role will provide daily process and project support to the shared trailer pool to ensure QDI achieves the highest level utilization and reduction of down time of the shared trailer fleet by supporting operational growth, promoting efficiency, and maximizing return.
