We are currently looking for a Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Specialist to join our Engineering Services group located in our Winnipeg Head Office. This position is responsible for the successful management and overall execution of various electrical, control system, automation and process improvement projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage budgeting, scope planning, and successful execution of capital and process improvement projects
- Prepare, review, and distribute tender packages; negotiate contracts and awarding contracts
- Review and provide feedback on detailed process flows / drawings, control system schematics, equipment selection processes and site plans, using complex software tools (i.e. AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Arc Flash software)
- Supervise vendors to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout project stages
- Ensure all electrical and instrumentation systems adhere to Canadian standards and regulations
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime and ensure safety
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders and draft operating procedures for safe and compliant operation of new/upgraded equipment
- Review process flows, drawings, and engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvement in electrical and instrumentation systems
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend upgrades and improvements
- Lead meetings with stakeholders to monitor project status, budget adherence, and performance
- Participate in safety assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with electrical and instrumentation systems
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in Process Design & Control and industrial project management
- Registered or eligible for registration with an applicable professional body in an electrical discipline (P.Eng, CET)
- Experience in PLC & HMI programming (Rockwell, Schneider, Wonderware) and IEC languages (Ladder Logic, C/C++, Visual Basic, Python, Java)
- Experience in developing, managing or supporting Cyber Security for Operational Technology (OT) for example, access controls, backups, patching programs, password controls and threat assessment
- Skilled at configuring VFDs, secondary controllers and other related industrial control devices
- Strong knowledge of North American electrical/safety codes
- Effective leadership, communication, and project management skills; ability to work independently when required
- Valid passport for domestic and international travel
- Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude in large-scale industrial facilities; food processing/grain handling experience is an asset
- Able to climb and work at heights
