
Description
The Sr. Financial Analyst delivers analytical support and strategic insights to the retail operations and marketing teams, helping drive performance across convenience stores, car wash, fuel, quick service restaurants, and facilities maintenance. This role evaluates profitability, measures program effectiveness, and supports business case development for new initiatives and partnerships. The Sr. Financial Analyst provides the operations executive team with actionable analytics on labor, sales programs, and profitability by offering data-driven recommendations, collaborating on action plans, and tracking key performance metrics. This individual plays a key role in shaping operational decisions and improving outcomes. Additionally, the Sr. Financial Analyst supports the monthly financial close process, partnering with marketing, operations, and accounting to manage accruals, explain variances, and prepare management reports. This is a high visibility role that will work closely with various levels of management and many internal teams throughout the organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performance & Profitability Analysis
- Track and report effectiveness of new retail programs, capital projects, and business partnerships
- Analyze profitability for key business lines including QSR, car wash, fuel, and facilities maintenance
- Provide site-level insights, including weekly labor and sales metrics, with a focus on improving EBITDA
- Partner with business leaders to develop and monitor KPIs across operations, fuel, car wash, marketing & facilities
Forecasting, Budgeting & Financial Close
- Develop and maintain monthly financial and operational forecasts
- Support the annual budgeting process in collaboration with cross-functional leaders
- Support month-end and quarter-end close, including variance analysis and management reporting
- Act as a liaison between category managers, operations, and accounting to explain trends and anomalies
Strategic Analysis & Projects
- Conduct ad hoc financial modeling and deep-dive expense analyses
- Present financial insights and site performance to the Executive Leadership Team
- Evaluate key business decisions through ROI and scenario analysis
Process Improvement & Enablement
- Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort
- Enhance tools, visuals, and templates in Excel and PowerPoint for better accuracy and storytelling
- Contribute to SOPs, training, and documentation for Retail Finance best practices
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience in a highly analytical role preferably in the retail industry
- Bachelor's Degree required. A degree specifically in Business, Marketing, Statistics, Finance or Accounting strongly preferred
- Extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis is required. Prior experience in FP&A, Consulting or Corporate Strategy is preferred
- Experience in using Business intelligence tools (such as Oracle | Power BI | Tableau) is preferred
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills is required
- Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills are required. Prior experience developing financial reports and presentations for executive leadership teams is strongly preferred
- Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment is required
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups at multiple levels and to communicate complex financial concepts to operations team is required
- Outstanding conceptual, analytical, and strategic thinking skills are required. As is dependability and self-motivation
- Strong organizational skills with emphasis on detail and follow-up is required
- Embraces teamwork and is willing to reprioritize or change course multiples times per day as needed by varying degrees of urgency
