1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Koren lab at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center uses genomic and computational approaches to study DNA replication timing and mutagenesis. The lab focuses on human cells and populations and on various types of cancer. We develop methods for measuring genome-wide DNA replication dynamics at large scale in various cell samples as well as in single cells. More information is available at www.thekorenlab.org.The Laboratory Technician will perform molecular biology, genetics and genomics experiments in support of multiple projects. These experiments will involve human cell culture, assays of gene expression, chromatin immunoprecipitation, DNA sequencing, and others. The technician will work with other members of the lab as well as independently on various experimental projects. Experience with molecular biology, genetics or genetics techniques, and ability to lead experimental projects independently are required. Familiarity and/or interest in learning basic computational data analysis is a plus. This is a one-year temporary position with a pay range of $19.43 - $24.86/hour which includes a comprehensive benefits package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in a science-related field; or
2. Associate's degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time laboratory experience; or
3. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time laboratory experience.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have:
- Education in Biology or related field;
- Experience with molecular biology/genetics/genomics methods;
- Experience working in an experimental biology lab and conducting experiments under supervision as well as independently;
- Proven ability to keep records, follow protocols and procedures, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others.
