Job Description :

Summary

Provide leadership and operational direction in regards to safety, health, security (SHS) and environmental services to the Operations team & Maintenance Specialists. This position is responsible for developing and managing the service and environmental compliance teams and programs for the organization, providing leadership for activities through a diverse network of services providers to Ryder. This includes working with Multiple Directors, Ryder Environmental, Ryder Engineering, Ryder Building Maintenance Services management and Ryder Safety, and external customer leadership as well as 3rd party service vendors/companies, for program development, compliance, service and execution planning. This position is responsible for monitoring compliance with regulatory agencies, as well as, internal Ryder safety and health requirements. Position will support operational personnel to ensure that continuous improvement systems are in place to drive positive results relative to employee safety programs, safety compliance, worker's compensation and injury/collision experience. Position is also responsible to perform management support, analysis and reporting necessary to assure compliance with Ryder environmental policies enterprise-wide.

Essential Functions

  • Oversight of multiple facilities and travel will be involved.
  • Support Torque by Ryder operations team relative to leadership of SHS and environmental issues.
  • Develops compliance programs and employee safety management systems for programs/initiatives.
  • Conducts hazard analysis, evaluation and develops solutions for issues and problems related to employee safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Stays current with local, state and federal environmental regulations impacting Ryder and related to stationary emissions as well as waste and hazmat management programs to develop and put in place the right environmental controls that reduce risk and improve environmental compliance.
  • Develop and implement environmental training tools to meet the facilities start-up and on-going training requirements for waste management, spill response, regulatory reporting, and others, as required.
  • Coordinate employee and management SHS training and development needs.
  • Coordinate facility safety, security and environmental related occurrence root cause investigations and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provides day-to-day compliance support to Torque by Ryder facilities, including performing routine facility audits and coordinates/leads response to external environmental audits (customers, regulatory agencies).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required Safety, Environmental Science or Management or additional four (4) years of required experience
  • Five (5) years or more In business with direct employee management required
  • Five (5) years or more In management of employee safety and health issues or a working knowledge or OSHA/DOT regulatory standards required
  • Experienced with personal interactions with regulatory inspectors and decision makers advanced required
  • Excellent PC Skills for reports & presentation preparation advanced required
  • Experience with and working knowledge of developing and improving processes and protocols intermediate required
  • Understanding of the IT environment, PC's networking, internet, etc intermediate required
  • Knowledge of Environmental Laws impacting the transportation and logistics industry intermediate required
  • Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state environmental laws/regulations advanced required

Travel - 50% local and purposeful travel

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:

110,000
