SAIC is seeking an Action Officer to support the Principal Direction for Artificial Intelligence within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) Critical Technology Office (CTO) to support developing and maintaining work products that enable management decision making, strategy development, initiative definition, action tracking and monitoring, meeting and workshop planning and execution. Duties include, but are not limited to: strategic and operational planning, communications, problem solving, office infrastructure management, oversight of workflow management and prioritization, running of reporting processes, oversight of security and clearance processes, personnel and functional area synchronization, and provide decision support to achieve mission outcomes.

This position is hybrid with onsite work in Arlington, VA.

Job duties include:

  • Track actions and tasks to timely closure; assist and escalate as needed when task owners fail to achieve timely closure.
  • Coordinate on-boarding and equipment distribution to new personnel.
  • Facilitate integrated project and initiative teams including meeting preparation, scheduling, execution and follow up.
  • Integrate action and task management with office work package and correspondence workflow processes.
  • Develop status and summary briefings.
  • Develop planning artifacts including but not limited to charters, schedules, and Gantt charts.
  • Gather information; articulate, analyze, and solve problems; visualize and present information; and provide decision support to achieve mission outcomes.
  • Identify and submit work orders to ensure office facilities remain fully functional and operational.
  • Develop reports on significant activities, report on the effectiveness of events and processes.
  • Provide key knowledge and information management functions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • US citizenship
  • A Bachelor's degree with ten (10) years or more of relevant experience or a Master's degree and eight (8) years or more of experience.
  • Strong leadership, problem identification/resolution skills, flexibility, initiative, and a proven ability to work with Senior Executives efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills; experience writing white papers, briefings, correspondence, and reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the DoD organizational structure and budgeting process, OSD inter-office coordination, and communication protocols.
  • Extensive experience in the Pentagon at OSD, Joint Staff, or other high-level organization.
  • Ability to develop high-quality, professional briefings and written reports to succinctly capture technical concepts for senior DoD leadership and Congress.

Desired Qualifications:

  • OSD, Joint Staff, and/or Service Staff experience.
  • Master's degree.
  • Background in National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) requirements for records and information management.
  • Experience in planning and coordination of technical reviews, panels, or similar meetings with diverse participants.
