SAIC has an opening for an Electrical Engineer to support the TTADS NIWC LANT team at our customer site in Charleston, SC.
Job Duties:
- Perform engineering design, development, integration, and testing of electrical, embedded, and electromechanical systems for prototype and field-deployed applications.
- Apply independent engineering judgment to evaluate requirements, develop technical solutions, select components and technologies, and resolve hardware and system-level problems.
- Design and develop electrical systems, schematics, PCBs, interfaces, and supporting documentation using engineering tools such as Altium Designer.
- Integrate embedded computing platforms, networking and communications equipment, sensors, payloads, and other hardware into complete functional systems.
- Plan and execute system-level testing, analyze failures and performance issues, and develop engineering solutions or design modifications based on test results.
- Take technical ownership of assigned projects or subsystems from initial requirements and concept development through design, prototyping, integration, testing, and field deployment.
- Work side-by-side with government/customer personnel on a daily basis, serving as a direct technical interface to understand operational needs, provide engineering support, communicate technical recommendations, and rapidly develop solutions to emerging requirements and issues.
- Balance technical performance, customer requirements, cost, schedule, reliability, and operational constraints when making engineering decisions and developing solutions.
Qualifications
- BS degree and two (2) or more years of work experience; four (4) years in lieu of degree.
- Electrical engineering and hands-on hardware development experience.
- PCB design experience with Altium.
- Experience with hardware/software integration and system-level testing.
- Familiarity with networking technologies, including Silvus.
- Experience with Raspberry Pi or similar embedded platforms.
- Hands-on soldering, cable fabrication, crimping, and product assembly skills.
- Experience with drones, trackers, or other field-deployed systems.
