SAIC has an immediate opening in Huntsville AL. for an Electrical Engineer.
RESPONSIBILITIES and ROLES:
- This position will be in support of multiple projects under the Multi-functional Assembly Lab (MFAL).
- The MFAL team is a diverse group of experienced electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineers and technicians with a wide range of skill sets, enabling us to support multiple military projects with quality solutions to the needs of America's War Fighter.
- We are seeking a quality-minded, reliable self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, enjoys multitasking, and is committed to safety.
- Primary job duties will be fabrication/assembly/inspection of prototype and production level military cables, harnesses, assemblies/sub-assemblies (IPC/WHMA-A-620), PCB soldering (IPC J-STD), Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) fabrication/assembly, inspection/verification, and testing.
- Candidate will provide or assist in providing technical solutions to engineering problems.
- Candidate must have knowledge of military-level drawings and schematics and an understanding of IPC practices.
- Other duties will include research, design, development, modification, troubleshooting, and evaluation of a variety of electronic equipment, printed circuit boards, and systems using electronic principles, theories, and concepts.
- Candidate must also have a basic knowledge of electronic bench equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multi-meters as well as a functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and two (2) years of related experience. An additional four (4) years of experience may be applied in lieu of a bachelors. DESIRED: An Associates Degree in an electronics or mechanical discipline.
Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of basic electronics and electronic components
- Capable of soldering to include surface mount and micro soldering (Active IPC certification a plus)
- Knowledge of mechanical assembly
- Capable of interpreting drawings, schematics, and work instructions to a military level
- Knowledge of basic hand tools to include DMC crimp tools
- Capable of organizing workflow for multiple projects
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Visio and/or other drawing software knowledge a plus)
- Willingness to operate fork lifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks and other basic shop equipment
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively within an 8-hour shift
- Must have at minimum 3 years related work experience
- Must be able to work as part of a team
CLEARANCE:
- U.S. citizenship required
- Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
