Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician IV to join our team of professionals tasked with overhauling the SPS-67(V)3 radar system, a primary surface search and navigation radar used extensively in naval operations. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of radar systems, hands-on experience with maintenance and overhaul procedures, and a strong technical troubleshooting background.
This role will involve performing complex equipment repairs, diagnosing and resolving system issues, and ensuring optimal performance of the radar system. The position supports mission-critical systems and requires adherence to strict quality standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overhaul, repair, and test SPS-67(V)3 radar systems to ensure operational readiness and compliance with technical specifications.
- Perform system diagnostics to identify malfunctions, component failures, and electrical/electronic troubleshooting of radar subsystems and assemblies.
- Address and resolve system discrepancies, conduct fault isolation, and replace/repair defective components.
- Execute performance testing, calibration, and alignment of radar systems to meet OEM standards.
- Interpret and apply technical manuals, schematics, and engineering documentation to all repair, maintenance, and overhaul activities.
- Prepare and maintain detailed maintenance and overhaul reports, documenting findings, actions, and results.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs and recommend design modifications as needed to improve system performance.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality control teams, and other technicians to ensure successful system overhaul and testing.
- Maintain compliance with applicable military standards, safety requirements, and company procedures throughout all phases of equipment servicing.
- Provide on-site and remote technical assistance to customers and end-users, when required.
- Participate in training and mentoring programs for junior technicians, fostering the development of knowledge transfer within the team.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Associate degree in electronics, engineering technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent military or industry experience is acceptable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working with naval radar systems, preferably SPS-67(V)3 or equivalent.
- Background in radar operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance, with expertise in surface search radar systems.
- Familiarity with Navy maintenance and supply systems, as applicable to radar operations.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of RF circuitry, wave propagation, power systems, and radar signal processing concepts.
- Experience with troubleshooting analog, digital, and RF electronic systems, down to the component level.
- Knowledge of oscilloscope use, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, and other diagnostic and test equipment.
- Familiarity with software/firmware used to support SPS-67(V)3 radar systems.
- Certifications: Certifications in radar maintenance and/or relevant military certifications (e.g., NEC 1137 or equivalent training) are highly desirable.
- Security Clearance: Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process. U.S. Citizenship is required.
