SAIC is looking for an experienced, energetic, and motivated Field Service Technician to join our Land Border Integration team in El Paso, TX. As a Field Service Technician working for SAIC you will have a fast moving, challenging, and highly rewarding position keeping the infrastructure running that helps Customs and Border Protection keep our borders safe. 

 

Responsibilities: 

·        Perform routine maintenance and inspections at Ports of Entry on deployed equipment, including but not limited to License Plate Reader (LPR) equipment, RFID, network/power, signage, and communication devices. 

·        Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to identify root causes and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime. 

·        Install new equipment and systems according to specifications and SOPs provided by SAIC deployment management. 

·        Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate equipment upgrades, replacements, and enhancements. 

·        Adhere to all CBP and SAIC IT Security, physical security, and operations security policies. 

·        Document accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, including maintenance schedules, repair histories, and inventory levels. 

·        Adhere to safety protocols such as OSHA and local regulations while performing maintenance and repair tasks at Ports of Entry.  

·        Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and provide on-call support as needed during business hours Monday-Friday. 

Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with Customs and Border Protection personnel, Border Patrol, vendors, and the traveling public. 

 

Qualifications: 

·        Currently residing in the El Paso area. 

·        Current holder of a DHS Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain one.  Note: Employment will be contingent upon having/obtaining a DHS Public Trust clearance prior to starting. 

·        Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and mechanical systems. 

·        Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to write reports. 

·        Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and computer software for equipment maintenance and repair. 

·        Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders. 

·        Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation. 

·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively within a team environment. 

·        Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

·        Understands basic electrical wiring principles (low voltage only). 
Technically proficient with signal cabling such as CAT 6 to include testing and termination.  

·         Understanding of multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting is a major desired skill. 

·        Ability to drive daily to job sites up to 150 miles away. 

·        May travel to other locations on the U.S. border to assist with installations and ticket resolutions for up to two weeks. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience as a Field Service Technician or Equipment Installation Technician.
  • Currently residing in the El Paso, TX area. 
  • Ability to drive daily to job sites, sometimes up to 150 miles away.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting is strongly desired.
  • Active DHS Public Trust highly desired.

Clearance / Citizenship Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Public Trust prior to starting with our team.
  • CBP Background Investigation requires drug screen prior to starting.
