SAIC is seeking an experienced and dynamic Fleet Support Engineer to support the delivery of advanced information warfare capabilities to our Naval, Joint, and Coalition warfighters. This role will be contributing to the Naval Operational Architecture (NOA) working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense. This role contributes to operational training and exercise support to ensure shipboard and command staffs are trained and ready to employ emerging capabilities in support of Project objectives. The candidate will leverage engineering knowledge to support Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) operations across Fleet Experimentation (FLEX), Fleet Reps and Sets, Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2), and lab and operational demonstrations. The role supports cross-functional teams to integrate emerging technologies at U.S. Navy Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs), aboard naval vessels, and across other naval commands, while enhancing coordination across NAVWAR program offices, Fleet elements, and Joint Forces. The candidate will also coordinate with existing teams to enable holistic naval models that inform future network architecture design with Naval and Joint Forces.
THIS ROLE IS LOCATED ON-SITE IN SAN DIEGO, CA AND WILL REQUIRE UP TO 25% OF TRAVEL (CONUS/OCONUS).
JOB DUTIES:
- Support systems engineering execution on complex technical programs by coordinating requirements, interfaces, and integration activities across stakeholders to enable successful delivery of fielded and planned capabilities.
- Assist with software architecture and requirements-driven design efforts by translating operational and technical needs into clear documentation that supports development, testing, and implementation workflows.
- Maintain and update architecture documentation and tracking for fielded and programmed capabilities by managing version control, documenting interfaces, and ensuring artifacts remain accurate and audit-ready.
- Support System of Systems (SoS) integration efforts by identifying dependencies, coordinating interface management, and assisting with troubleshooting and issue resolution across interconnected systems.
- Provide technical support for shipboard networks and systems engineering activities by contributing to integration, configuration, and troubleshooting efforts within ACS, CANES, and related naval environments, as applicable.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and IT specialists to integrate emerging technologies at Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs), aboard naval vessels, and across other naval commands in support of program objectives.
- Contribute to the development and execution of training programs for future fleet systems by supporting training planning, delivery, and documentation to ensure shipboard and command personnel are proficient in fielded operational capabilities.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. Years of experience in lieu of degree to be reviewed.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance after start
- Experience supporting systems engineering efforts on complex technical programs.
- Understanding of software architecture, requirements-driven design, and development/testing processes.
- Experience assisting with architecture documentation and tracking of fielded and planned capabilities.
- Familiarity with enterprise or system-of-systems concepts and interface management.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integration and delivery objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and supporting stakeholder coordination.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Technical experience with ACS (Afloat Core Services) and U.S. Navy shipboard networks and systems engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering, with a proven ability to design, integrate, and troubleshoot complex System of Systems (SoS) architectures within a naval context.
- In-depth technical knowledge of shipboard networks, including Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) and its associated components.
- Strong understanding of modern digital ecosystems and their application within a military framework. Experience with the Navy's digital transformation initiatives, including Project Overmatch, and their impact on fleet capabilities is crucial.
- Proven ability to operate effectively within the Navy's chain of command and enhance cross-functional coordination across diverse organizations, including NAVWAR program offices, Fleet elements, and Joint Forces.
- Contribute to the development and execution of training programs for future fleet systems, ensuring shipboard and command personnel are proficient in the operational capabilities being fielded in support of Project Overmatch.
- Cross-Functional Team Support: Support cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and IT specialists to successfully integrate emerging technologies at U.S. Navy's Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs), naval vessels, and other naval commands in support of multiple Overmatch related efforts.
