SAIC has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer to provide direct onsite engineering and technical support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Shipboard Instrumentation and System Calibration (SISCAL) Program. This role plays a critical part in supporting the U.S. Navy's mission with a wide range of activities focused on U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers and Submarines. The ideal candidate will possess a mix of technical expertise, analytical skills, and hands-on engineering capabilities to contribute to managing shipboard instrumentation, calibration systems, and associated processes. This is an exciting opportunity to join SAIC in supporting a critical U.S. Navy initiative. The role will provide the selected candidate with hands-on experience in engineering naval systems and opportunities to work directly on-site with NSWCPD, contributing to mission-critical solutions and supporting fleet operational needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the SISCAL Engineering Agent (EA) to develop solutions for changes to Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRC) and respond via the Planned Maintenance System Management Information System (PMSMIS).
- Screen Technical Manual Deficiency Evaluation Reports (TMDERs) via Remedy and route them to In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs) for resolution by:
- Reviewing deficiencies, problems, and publication improvement recommendations.
- Conducting detailed research and proposing updates for ISEA approval.
- Collect and analyze data from system tests to derive insights for process improvements and system upgrades.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, including statistical analysis, performance metrics, and recommendations for enhancement.
- Ensure all engineering activities meet relevant safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, tools, and methodologies in engineering and U.S. Navy naval systems.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Engineering).
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex technical projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities, with experience in collaborative, team-oriented environments.
- Familiarity with naval systems, ship configurations, and test/calibration procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in engineering support work, preferably within a military or naval environment.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 or other quality management systems and processes.
- Proficiency with engineering software or data analysis tools will be an added advantage.
Security Clearance:
- Active or Interim DoD Secret Clearance is required on the first day of employment.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel (up to 10%) is required to support ship integration, test operations, and international collaboration tasks.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Passport to facilitate travel.
