SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a critical Department of the Air Force C3BM program based in the DC Metro Area. This contingent hire position focuses on ensuring the operational readiness of advanced networking systems across ground nodes, aerial nodes, and cloud environments. This role encompasses the design, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of secure and complex network infrastructures to enable mission-critical operations. Collaboration with Field Service Representatives (FSRs), government stakeholders, and mission partners is essential to ensuring seamless and secure connectivity for both nationwide and deployed environments.

As the Network Engineer SME, this individual will lead efforts to resolve network anomalies, configure air-gapped Kubernetes-based environments, and deploy zarf packages while maintaining compliance with government-defined performance, reliability, and security standards. Responsibilities include both on-site and remote support for ground node systems, management of network assets, and meticulous documentation of resolutions and trends through approved ticketing systems. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting secure and reliable network operations aligned with the highest mission requirements. This position is Hybrid Remote, with most of the work being done onsite in Arlington, VA. 

Qualifications

Clearance: Active SECRET clearance, eligible for Top Secret/SCI.

Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.

Experience:

  • 14+ years of experience in network engineering, operations, and troubleshooting for enterprise and mission-critical environments.
  • Expertise in configuring, maintaining, and securing routers, switches, and network infrastructure in Government or Department of Defense (DoD) settings.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and monitor large-scale and complex network topologies.

Certifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • CompTIA Security+.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Juniper Networks Certified Specialist (JNCS).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in IT, Systems Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes environments and deploying zarf packages.
  • Advanced certifications, such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty.
  • Demonstrated history of presenting high-value metrics and complex technical solutions to senior leadership in a clear and actionable form.
