SAIC is seeking an Electro-optical (EO) Satellite Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support the NRO Electro-Optical System Program Office (ESPO). Qualified candidates must possess demonstrated electro-optical satellite experience and be able to provide technical and programmatic insight on the wide variety of satellite capabilities & activities. The successful candidate will work both independently and in a team-based environment.
Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Directly support ESPO as the office responsible for the design, development, manufacturing, integration & test, and launch & initialization of Electro-Optical satellites for the NRO
· Assist in managing requirements development, flow-down and traceability. Assist with ensuring compliance to interfaces and standards or ensure appropriate deviations/waivers are in place.
· Evaluate system and subsystem designs, as necessary, to determine if the design is adequate to meet program requirements.
· Participate in assessing power, weight, cooling and other space vehicle design constraints as the design matures through its phases. Identify technical design risks and support development of corrective action plans.
· Participate in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) to troubleshoot and resolve anomalies and test failures. Develop mitigation plans and identify impacts to subsystem, spacecraft, and mission performance.
· Assist with acquisition planning, documentation, and Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) evaluations. Assist, as needed, in Government source selections and the technical evaluation of satellite provider proposals.
· Work in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads, commercial satellite developers, and other subject matter experts.
Qualifications
· BS in Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar technical discipline
· 5 years experience working on electro-optical satellite programs and have a solid understanding of various satellite flight sciences (reliability, power, power, weight, cooling, maintainability, etc.)
· Have strong familiarity with electro-optical system & subsystem functionality, performance, and product data.
· Electro-optical satellite acquisition experience, specifically writing and evaluating requirements, and assessing development contractor performance.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
· MS in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical discipline
· Certified System Engineering Professional (CSEP)
