SAIC is looking for an OPIR Technical Lead to play a key role in SAIC's Prime Program, Landmark AOS, located in Chantilly, VA. Landmark AOS is SAIC's Prime SETA program supporting the National Reconnaissance Office's (NRO) Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED) in acquiring systems across their entire life cycle.
As the OPIR Technical Lead, you will manage task execution, provide technical/professional expertise on a variety of OPIR topics, and advise the government on program activities. You will also lead and manage all technical aspects related to the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems within the Ground Enterprise Directorate. You will also be involved in directing technical strategies, ensuring the integration and enhancement of OPIR capabilities, and overseeing the development, testing, and deployment of OPIR technologies. As the OPIR Technical Lead you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, and program managers, to ensure the successful implementation and operation of OPIR systems.
Note: This position may require occasional travel (10-20%).
Role Responsibilities to include:
Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for the development, testing, and deployment of OPIR systems.
- Lead the integration of OPIR technologies into broader ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) frameworks.
- Ensure the alignment of OPIR projects with organizational goals and mission requirements.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement technical strategies for the enhancement and optimization of OPIR capabilities.
- Identify emerging technologies and trends in OPIR and advise on their potential integration.
Project Management:
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for OPIR-related projects.
- Coordinate with project managers and technical leads to ensure timely and within-budget project delivery.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Facilitate collaboration between internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to advance OPIR initiatives.
- Communicate technical updates, project statuses, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant security and regulatory requirements.
- Research and Development:
- Drive innovation by leading R&D efforts focused on advancing OPIR technologies.
- Evaluate and incorporate cutting-edge research and technological advancements into existing systems.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly required.
- 10 years of experience in the development, deployment, and management of OPIR systems.
- Proven experience in a technical leadership role, managing complex technical projects and teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in OPIR technologies, satellite systems, and related ground systems.
- Strong understanding of OPIR sensor technologies, data processing, and analysis.
- Proficiency in systems engineering, integration, and testing of ISR systems.
- Familiarity with advanced software tools and programming languages used in OPIR applications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve technical excellence.
