SAIC is looking for a Solid Works CAD Drafter at our SAIC site in Crane, IN

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will provide drafting and documentation support for NSWC Crane Maneuver, Surveillance, and Engagement Systems Division, Code JXWQ.  In this role you will support a dedicated team creating/updating Technical Data Package(s) using SolidWorks 3D parametric Software.  One must be able to understand, preform and to be trained quickly and efficiently to the processes and procedures that are required by the tasking given.
 
JOB DUTIES: 

  • Creates and modifies detailed models and drawings using SolidWorks and other 3D parametric CAD Software(s)
  • Works closely with the Customer, Engineers, Technicians and other CAD Operators to capture design
  • Works independently as well as in a collective team effort to effect changes to design and/or documentation
  • Performs a variety of moderate and complex tasks and have the ability to use a variety of tools to include, but not limited to, Calipers, Gauges, Tape Measure, Ruler and other mechanical devices to aid in design development and verification/validation

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma/GED or Higher education.
  • Work Experience: A Minimum of (3) years of related experience while using 3D parametric software, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience using other 3D CAD software is a plus and will be considered with one or more of the following programs Solid Edge, AutoDesk Inventor and Creo.
  • Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge and aptitude with understanding of currently accepted manufacturing processes and ISO procedures required.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to communicate complex ideas in a production floor environment.
  • Ability to quickly complete tasking independently and as a team member, with detailed or general instructions. 
  • Knowledge of: (ASME-Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000) preferred but not required, understanding basic CAD operations and procedures associated to standard Drawing Standards are a must, basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing of Technical Drawings and Data Packages a plus but not required.  
  • Understanding of Military standards a plus but not required.

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

Must be able to get and maintain a Secret Clearance.
