SAIC is seeking a highly motivated SCA Engineering Technician III to support the Specialized Munitions Division and Munitions Sustainment Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, IN.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
In this position, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals to address complex and impactful challenges. Your work will directly contribute to sustainment operations, testing, and the deployment of critical solutions essential to the Nation's security and the success of our frontline warfighters. You will work alongside government customers and contractor teams to address a variety of tasks and projects while fostering strong relationships with customers, sponsors, and industry partners.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Duties will include disassembly/reassembly, inspection, overhaul/sustainment, and system testing of missiles and landing force munitions by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and current instructions. Tasks may also include coating and stenciling of missiles and/or containers, pallet banding, and maintaining detailed documentation through process operations.
- Disassemble all-up-round missiles and landing force munitions into subassemblies to support parts repair, replacement, or configuration changes. Inspect, test, and measure operational characteristics of components.
- Conduct visual inspections and tests to identify signs of mechanical, electrical, or physical damage. Use specialized mechanical and electrical testing or measurement equipment for inspections. Document all observations and actions accurately in an electronic traveler system.
- Execute sustainment operations, including system component assessment, planning, disassembly/reassembly, operational testing, quality assurance, and detailed recording/reporting of task completion to meet customer, sponsor, and end-user mission objectives.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience; or an Associate degree with at least one year of relevant experience.
- Ability to perform routine work with flexibility for variations in complexity, using higher-level personnel for guidance when necessary.
- Proficiency in standard assembly techniques and proper selection and use of a variety of tools.
- Experience with coating operations or other detailed, precision-oriented tasks requiring high levels of accuracy and repeatability.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical drawings, schematics, and standard operating procedures.
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Ability to meet physical fitness, personal responsibility, and safety requirements necessary to obtain and maintain an explosive certification.
- Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Foundational knowledge of explosives and/or ordnance systems.
- Prior Department of Defense (DoD) technical experience involving requirements and sustainment operations, particularly through the use of standard operating procedures.
- Possession of an active DoD Security Clearance.
