We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Writer II to join our talented team. In this role, you will develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards, translating complex information into simple, engaging content. You will create user-friendly materials that enhance user success, maintain a detailed database of reference materials, and continuously evaluate and improve existing content.
Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.
This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
- Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
- Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
- Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational standards and allow for easy data migration.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a technical field such as Engineering.
- Three (3) to five (5) years professional experience in technical writing.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and concise manner with engineers and other team members.
- Basic understanding of the navigation systems being documented is preferred.
- Ability to gather information from various sources to accurately represent technical details.
- Familiarity with authoring tools like MadCap Flare, Confluence, or similar platforms to format and manage documentation.
- Ability to create simple diagrams or visuals to enhance understanding.
Required Security Clearance:
- US Citizenship required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
- Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
