SAIC is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Computing Engineer to join the Cloud One Operations and Sustainment Team to work in Impact Level 2/4/5/6 environments. This candidate will be part of a team responsible for the architecture design/planning, automation, management, support, and oversight of the Cloud One Azure environments. The Azure Cloud Software Developer/Engineer will be supporting the Cloud One Common Computing Environment (CCE) program under the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center Office for Network Integration (AFLCMC/HNI). Cloud One is an existing global, interconnected, virtualized, hybrid IT infrastructure hosting mission systems, applications, services, and data that will serve the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Army (USA). Cloud One incorporates the capabilities of commercial cloud and Managed Service Providers (MSP) residing in Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). Cloud One facilitates the USAF and USA's efforts to migrate applications to a cloud environment, allowing the closure of data centers to support the Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) and allowing for increased efficiencies across the entire spectrum of IT operations. This role includes managing large-scale Azure environments supporting a large number of mission-critical applications, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
This position is hybrid remote with work to be done on site with SIPRnet access for IL6 work duties. Current SIPRnet locations include: Montgomery AL, Hanscom AFB MA, Andrews AFB VA, Charleston SC. Additional facilities with access already established by applicant may be considered.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, sustain, and maintain Azure environments and topologies, addressing all aspects of architecture and operations.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead cross-functional projects, and contribute to strategic cloud initiatives.
- Drive collaboration between Engineering and Operations & Sustainment teams by defining roles, responsibilities, and workflows to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align technical solutions with mission objectives and organizational goals.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling, and process inefficiencies.
- Maintain regular contact with customers during support and projects.
- Provide technical assistance and training to users.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 3 help desk tickets.
- Perform performance, server, and log monitoring.
- Deploy software packages to Cloud One Integration, Test, and Production environments.
- Support regression and other testing for the Cloud Common Services.
- Address security findings and vulnerabilities by developing, testing, and deploying configuration changes.
- Provide integration support to developers.
- Perform activities for patch releases including configuration changes, required documentation, and approvals.
- Develop code in Terraform, PowerShell, and ARM templates for infrastructure automation and orchestration.
- Develop and test configurations to address performance issues and reduce operational costs.
- Develop and update Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and support Cloud One Infrastructure.
- Innovation and Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, such as AI/ML solutions, to enhance system capabilities, meet mission needs, and future-proof cloud infrastructure.
- Create and update documentation related to the maintenance and support of the Cloud Common Services.
- Implement strategies to optimize cloud resource usage, reduce operational costs, and improve infrastructure performance metrics.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and five (5) years or more of experience; Masters and three (3) years or more of experience.
- Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Clearance and Certification:
- Secret
- US citizenship
- Security+ or higher certification
Required Skills:
- Advanced Knowledge of deployments for Azure cloud systems
- Advanced Experience/knowledge in:
- DevOps.
- Infrastructure as Code.
- Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or other modern software development methods/practices.
- Advanced cloud security practices and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP and DoD IL4/5/6.
- Task automation
- Virtualization through containerization using Docker or Kubernetes
- Advanced Proficiency with Azure DevOps, GitLab, Terraform, PowerShell, ARM templates, and/or Terragrunt
- Proven experience optimizing infrastructure cost and performance
Desired Skills and Certifications
- Azure or SAFe DevOps certifications
- Experience supporting USAF or USA software development projects
- Experience in an MSP or other IT company is highly desirable
- Familiarity with the following technologies:
- Terraform, Terragrunt, PowerShell and AZ modules, ARM templates (IaC), Azure DevOps (CI/CD), Git (source control), and Tomcat (Java), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Docker, and container orchestration, Helm, Azure IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, Azure SQL, and Azure Container Registry (ACR), Azure networking (hub-and-spoke, VPN Gateway with BGP), Azure Active Directory, Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Policy, Federation Services (ADFS).
- Proven ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic initiatives
