Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals in supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA) in developing and deploying the Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) software development and hosting environment for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA). These systems establish software development capabilities to securely and rapidly field mission applications developed by BMC3 ecosystem participants in support of Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives.

SAIC has an immediate need for a BMC3 DevSecOps Engineer who can train, troubleshoot, and educate strategic partners on IL-5 Software development to support Space Operations for the PWSA. The candidate for this position will work primarily with Impact Level 5 (IL5) information and may require travel to – Redstone Arsenal, Grand Forks, ND. Other locations with access to an IL5 ; with the role primarily remote.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

    • Your responsibilities include assessment of software acceptance criteria, developing DevSecOps processes, and supporting software automations for third-party application developers.
    • Ensuring that development and software continuous delivery and integrations uses security best practices through out the process (NIST.SP.800-190) 
    • Ensuring third-party application developers capabilities enerting and deploying to BMC3 AppFac Ecosystem meets security requirements and test.
    • Working with BMC3 AppFac cloud infrastructure to ensure configurations meet STIG or DOD required security standards. 
    • Supporting the design, implementation, and management of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitLab to assist/ remove roadblocks for third-party Application Developers.
    • Assisting in integrating/ education security protocols within DevSecOps workflows.
    • Collaborating with team members to manage infrastructure and configuration using tools like Terraform, SonarQube, Trufflehog, SD Elements, and Ansible.
    • Gaining hands-on experience with cloud systems, such as AWS by supporting development and deployments of a system-of-systems architecture setups.
    • Learning and assisting in software development using Java and Python.

Qualifications

    • Must have min. (5) five of technical experience with Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
    • 3+ years in technical roles related to Dec/SecOps development or system operations
    • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++/C#, Java, Node/JS, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Python
    • Foundational understanding of DevSecOps concepts and tools
    • Exposure to coding, CI/CD tools, pipeline stages, and cloud architecture
    • Demonstrated ability to follow technical guidance and perform under minimal supervision
    •  Experience with application deployment in Docker Containers
    • Experience with Kubernetes and/or other container orchestration tools
    • Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Powershell, ScriptRunner)
    • Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate with customers technical concepts in a digestible coaching form
    • Security+ Certificate
    • Must have a Secret

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Platform One or other DoD Software Factories

• Knowledge of the Atlassian Suite (Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence) including front-end and administrative functions & its plugin structure

• Experience and knowledge of Software Composition Analysis (SCA) tools (e.g., Fortify, SonarQube, Prisma Cloud Compute)

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to include services such as VPC, EC2, IAM, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch

• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g, Helm, Ansible)

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform)

• Experience with access management and client account technical support (SSO, Keycloak, Appgate)

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
